Well, I’m making it official. I registered socialphotography.org, created Social Photography Facebook Group and socialpics twitter account.

The concept is very simple. I take portrait of people at parties, on their way to parties and generally just having fun. It’s usually a very social experience. I really enjoy the social aspect of the pictures, that’s why for me it’s – “Social first, Photography second.”

So I ask for you help to make “Monthday” a real thing. Please go to wikipedia and attempt to create a page for it at Monthday page on wikipedia.

For those who do not know what monthday is:

Monday is a day that feels like a month. It’s monthday when,  you’re not sure if something that happened today did infact happen today or yesterday.

Anyway, I like it so far. It’s comfortable, has wifi and it’s pretty cheap. In about 11 hours, I will be in New York city.

Greyhound Neon is the only way to travel to New York.

I will be copying lenaboyle.com and implementing it in JMC.

Here is the process of implementing the site using JMC.

1. Setup Joomla
2. Create tables
3. Enter data
4. Setup views
5. Apply template
6. Test

1. Setup Joomla

Setup Directory structure

mkdir -p lenaboyle.com/{db,html,local}

htdocs/lenaboyle.com/db – backup of your joomla site database
htdocs/lenaboyle.com/html – the actual joomla site
htdocs/lenaboyle.com/local – contains configuration.php files of all developers working on this site.

Copy Joomla to html folder

cp -r vendors/joomla/1.5/* lenaboyle.com/html

Setup joomla
In your web browser go to http://localhost/lenaboyle.com/html/installation and perform standard joomla installation.

Install latest version of JMC

1. Download latest version of JMC from JMC Repository.
2. Install JMC using standard joomla install method

Backup your configuration.php file

cp lenaboyle.com/html/configuration.php lenaboyle.com/local/configuration.php.{$yourname}

2. Create Tables

JMC repository comes with predefined Artwork & Artist tables. You should not need to overwrite these, unless there is something unusual about this site. In this case, we will use the default table files. So you don’t actually have to do anything here

3. Perform Data Import

You can using the import function model to perform the import. This will need to be documented separately.

4. Setup Views

First outline what views you have. You can start off by looking at what you have in the menu menu.
